Appledore is a small village on the mouth of the river Torridge. Once a historic fishing port, it's now known for its colourful streets, waterside views and thriving community of artists and makers.

Crafts and creativity are part of everyday life here, with galleries, studios and markets showcasing handmade work inspired by the coast. The village hosts much-loved events throughout the year, including the Appledore Book Festival, lively local markets and the famous Appledore Regatta, a highlight of the summer calendar filled with sailing, river races and traditional seaside fun.

With its relaxed pace, friendly atmosphere and ever-changing programme of events, Appledore is a delightful place to explore.

Explore Appledore & Westward Ho!

Northam Burrows, an area of outstanding natural beauty, is a picturesque walk or cycle away. A beautiful semi wild landscape with grassy plains, salt marshes, sand dunes and wild horses, intertwined with the Royal North Devon golf course, one of the oldest in England and flanked by the sweeping sand of Westwood Ho! Beach.

 

Westwood Ho! beach, over 2 km of beautiful sand, perfect for surfing, boogy boarding and swimming. There’s a cafe to the sand dunes towards Appledore and a large car park. Saunton Sands, Croyde and Woolacombe are all close by.
